MovieWatch

I’m not a big cinema-goer and don’t seem to find much time to watch films at home on television but given my penchant for recording things I thought it would be appropriate to start a “MovieWatch” page on this site in which I can record films that I have seen with just a few words of comment. It will quickly become apparent that most of the films I watch, particularly those I watch in the cinema, match the ages of my children. To make this a little different from other parts of the site I think I will just record the date, format (c/d/t = cinema/dvd/television), title and my synopsis/comment in just three short phrases.

22/12/09 [t]: Dad’s Army – Film version of the television sitcom; not as funny as the original but still produced a chuckle or two even though I’ve seen it before;
13/11/09 [d]: A Night At The Museum 2 – Follow-up to ANATM #1; former night-guard Ben Stiller returns to rescue “come alive” museum exhibits from a life in storage; nothing like as good as #1 but still fun; laugh out loud moment: “do not cross this line”.
26/10/09 [d]: Slumdog Millionaires – How an Indian boy from the slums of Mumbai learned the answers that made him rich; what a clever idea for a plot; won lots of Oscars and it’s pretty obvious why.
14/08/09 [t]: Grow Your Own – A tale of feuds and friendships set on a Liverpool allotment patch; the story is slow but the plants grow fast; good cast and quite an enjoyable film to watch.
03/08/09 [d]: The Kite Runner – A tale of cowardice and bravery amidst the horrors of modern-day Afghanistan; how is it possible to manouvre kites so well with only one control string; good story, good film but those kites bother me.
30/07/09 [c]: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince – Number 6 in the series; the young wizards struggle with their emotions and Dumbledore is killed but not much else happens; very watchable for Potter fans but others wouldn’t have a clue what is going on.
