observations, thoughts and useful stuff…About this site
For a few months now I have been playing around with various web-based projects using the WordPress blogging tool. My projects have included a web-site providing information on marine science stories in the news, another describing a recent sponsored swimming challenge that I completed and a third that was intended to follow on from the swimming site as a place for occasional musings. Apparently people have read some of this material and found it interesting, useful or amusing. Anyway, having thought about all of this activity some more I decided that it made more sense to have one site where all of my web-based writing and activity could crash together – this site is the result. It is intended to be a mixture of work-related material that may be of interest to the students that I teach on various oceanography and meteorology courses at the University of Plymouth, general (possibly funny?) observations on life, reviews of books that I have read, comments on things that are happening to me or the world in general and anything else that pops into my head. The entries will emerge in a random order but hopefully it will be possible for anyone who visits this site to find the kind of material that may interest them using the “Categories” index provided (over in the second column from the right). Various links to other websites of interest are accessible over in the right-hand column and I expect this list to grow and grow as I come across other sites that I think are worthy of note. Feel free to comment on entries or the site in general – it would be good to know there are readers out there.
